The Inaugral Edition of The NUALS Moot
2025
The NUALS Moot 2025 (TNM) brought together law students from across India to examine the complexities of International Taxation and Corporate Legal Structures in Cross-Border Share Acquisitions. The competition presented participants with a detailed problem requiring analysis of global commerce, taxation frameworks, and corporate governance principles that mirror actual legal challenges faced in international business transactions.
The event followed a hybrid format with preliminary rounds held online on February 8, 2025, followed by quarter and semi-finals on February 9, 2025, and concluded with an offline grand finale at the NUALS campus on February 23, 2025. Ms. Shreya Rao, an international tax expert pursuing her PhD at Oxford, delivered the opening address. The judging panel featured prominent legal professionals including Ayush Tandon, Anmol Anand, Dr. Dhruv Janssen-Sanghavi, and practitioners from top-tier law firms across India and the High Court of Kerala.

The Grand Finale was adjudicated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Kauser Edappagath, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice C. Jayachandran of the High Court of Kerala. SASTRA Deemed University emerged as winners, with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat as runners-up. The competition attracted participants from premier institutions including NLSIU, NALSAR, NLIU, NUJS, RMLNLU, and other prominent law colleges, establishing TNM as a key platform for international tax law discourse in India’s mooting circuit.
